#37 1st Place In Book: "No Man’s Land"

"No Man's Land centers on a close circle of village residents on the Swedish island of Öland. Farmers live side by side here with an artist colony. Their business and life entwine one other. The artists assist the farmers and the farmers get involved in artistic endeavors. Through depicting rural daily life, I highlight the shared need to fit into a setting. The concept began with my personal experience of having that background removed from me. Living there for many years, the breakdown of a relationship became an emotional tragedy and I had to leave a place I loved greatly.Based in Stockholm, Sweden, I am a freelancing photographer and writer/journalist. Sweden Union of Journalists (SJF) member. In 2016 I published the photobook "Across the Bridge," (Journal) on daily life on the Swedish island Öland. "A Familiar Place," my second photobook (Journal, 2018) explores daily Stockholm life. 2019 saw the publication of my third photobook, "The Young Ones," Journal. It relates to children. I visit the island I depicted in my first book in my fourth novel, No Man's Land (Journal, 2023). Working in a traditional documentary black and white heritage appeals to me.
